Bees bring buzz as urban hives grow in Detroit

Brian Peterson-Roest and his husband became urban beekeepers in Detroit to raise awareness and to protect the endangered honeybees from extinction. Bees in the D, their nonprofit, is setting up dozens of beehives on rooftops and community gardens all over the city to educate the community and improve the health of bees. Bees are the most important pollinator of food crops, which means a lot of what we consume each day relies on their tireless work.
